Sketches using splines, resulting in a combination of lines and curves smoothly connecting the points you specify
Right-click commands
The
command is best suited for artistic drawing and sketching. As you draw, the lines connecting the points you create are automatically smoothed to the best combination of arcs and lines.
The Sketch command
There are two approaches to using the Sketch command:
- Click discrete points to add the next segment
As you add points, LAYOUT smooths out previous points. To stop drawing, press .
- Hold down the left mouse button as you draw
Holding down the mouse button produces more points as you move the curse, accurately tracking your motions. To stop drawing, press .
To begin drawing again after pressing Esc, you can simply press the Space bar. This repeats the last command, and will reactivate the Sketch command.
After activating the Sketch command, a control bar appears that lets you set the level of control you want.
The Sketch tolerance dialog
The "Loose" setting will use fewer arcs and lines as it smooths, while the "Precise" setting will attempt to exactly match where the cursor moves. These settings have more effect when you draw holding down the left mouse button.
The Pick up pen when mouse button is up lets you configure the command to your preference. When this is checked, you draw by holding down the left mouse button and moving the mouse. Releasing the mouse button lets you move to a new location to begin a new feature.
When it is not checked, you can click to specify points, or hold down the left mouse button as you move the mouse. Everything you draw is connected to the previous point.
