Z-axis setup and motor resolution for each axis
Both the X-axis and the Y-axis have motors that control the motion of the machining head. On some machines, there is also a motor that controls the Z-axis (up and down motion).
These options affect the motors that move the machining head.
Changing these settings to incorrect values can severely degrade the accuracy of your machine. You should only change these settings under the direction of OMAX Technical Support.
Inches/Step for X Axis
Inches/Step for Y Axis
Inches/Step for Z Axis
This value is the number of inches moved for each motor step. To the right of each value is the equivalent number of steps per inch. Note that the label for these values depends on the units of measurement you have chosen. The Z-axis settings are only available if you have a motorized Z-axis.
Backlash compensation for X axis
Backlash compensation for Y axis
For most GlobalMAX machines, this value is zero, indicating there is no measurable backlash. If backlash is present and is measured (which typically involves a laser measurement system) then the compensation for the backlash is entered here. The value is typically in the range ±0.001" (±0.003 mm).
